7-Layer Magic Bars

Featured in: Sweet Twists

These 7-layer bars feature a graham cracker crust topped with layers of semi-sweet chocolate, butterscotch chips, shredded coconut, and chopped nuts. Sweetened condensed milk binds the layers as it bakes to a golden finish. Once cooled, a sea salt caramel drizzle adds a luscious, contrasting sweet and savory note. Rich in texture and flavor, this dessert brings together crunchy, chewy, and silky elements for an indulgent treat.

Perfect for easy preparation, these bars can be customized by toasting nuts and coconut or swapping nut varieties. Store at room temperature up to four days and pair wonderfully with coffee or dessert wine.

Use the back of a spoon or a flat-bottomed glass to firmly press the graham cracker and melted butter mixture evenly into the pan, creating a compact base layer.

Can I substitute the nuts used in the bars?

Yes, you can replace pecans or walnuts with almonds or cashews to suit your preference or allergy needs.
